DFW Pumpkin Patches 2026: Halloween Weekend Hours, Prices & Post-Halloween Picks
Halloween 2026 lands on a Saturday, which gives North Texas families one last full weekend to load up the wagon, find the right pumpkin and grab that fall photo before the season wraps. The good news: plenty of Dallas-Fort Worth patches are still open, and a handful keep going well into November. We rechecked dates, hours and ticket prices with each patch's own website (as of October 29, 2026) and reorganized this guide around the question most families are actually asking right now: where can we still go, what will it cost, and which spot fits our crew? Agents, this is also an easy, useful link to share with clients who just moved to the Metroplex and want to try a local tradition.
Key Takeaways
- Final weekend: Halloween is Saturday, October 31, 2026. Many church and city patches close that day, some early (Frisco's Pumpkins on the Prairie closes at 5 p.m.).

The final Pumpkins and Pints evening is Friday, October 30, from 6 to 9 p.m. (the members-only BOO-tanical Trick or Treat is sold out). This is a display, not a pick-your-own patch. How to Plan Your Pumpkin Patch Visit: Step by Step
- Check the calendar first. With Halloween on a Saturday, many patches end October 31 and several end November 1. Confirm today's hours on the patch's website or Facebook page before you leave.
- Match the patch to your group. Toddlers do best at small farms such as Cobbins, Blase or Fritz Park. School-age kids love the big festivals at Mainstay or Ruby Creek. Teens and couples tend to prefer Pumpkin Nights, Hall's corn maze after dark or Lost Oak Winery.
- Set a budget. Use the cost table below, and remember that pumpkins, food, feed cups and pony rides are usually extra.
- Reserve if needed. Blase Family Farm requires a sign-up, Pumpkin Nights sells only timed online tickets, and Sunset Trail limits walk-ups. The Arboretum uses timed tickets too.
- Pack smart. Bring closed-toe shoes, sunscreen, water, wipes, a collapsible wagon and cash (essential at Hall's).
- Time it right. Go at opening for shorter lines or in the last 90 minutes before sunset for the best photo light.
- Pick a pumpkin that lasts. Use the checklist below and wait until a day or two before Halloween to carve.
What a Family of Four Can Expect to Spend
| Type of Outing | Examples | Estimated Entry for 2 Adults + 2 Kids |
|---|---|---|
| Free patches and displays | NorthPark, Pumpkins on the Prairie, Christ United, St. James, Lost Oak | $0, plus pumpkins |
| Budget petting farms | Fritz Park | About $16 (Irving residents) to $24 (non-residents) |
| Small family farms | Blase, Big Orange, Sunset Trail, Cobbins | About $48 to $60 |
| Classic corn maze | Hall's (kids 4-11) | About $50, cash |
| Full-day festivals | Ruby Creek, Storybook, Mainstay | About $60 to $70+, plus extras |
| Night trail | Pumpkin Nights (late-October weekend) | About $116 to $132, plus $10 parking |
Estimates are based on published 2026 prices and assume kids in the paid age range. Actual totals vary by day, age and add-ons.
Choosing and Caring for Your Pumpkin
- Stem first: Look for a firm, green stem, and carry the pumpkin from the bottom. A snapped stem speeds up rot.
- Squeeze test: Press around the base. Any soft spot means it is already breaking down.
- Know the job: Tall, flat-sided pumpkins carve best. Small sugar or pie pumpkins are for baking, and white, warty or heirloom types are for porch displays.
- Beat the heat: In North Texas warmth a carved jack-o'-lantern can soften in just a few days. Keep uncarved pumpkins in the shade and carve close to Halloween.
- Think beyond October: Uncarved pumpkins make great Thanksgiving décor. Pie pumpkins from Blase ($4) or the edible varieties at the Dallas Farmers Market can be roasted for soups and breads.
Fall Traditions and Choosing Where to Live in DFW
Ask longtime North Texans what they love about their neighborhood, and a seasonal tradition usually comes up: the church patch on the corner, the farm just past the newest subdivision or the downtown square that fills with families every October. If you are relocating, a weekend patch visit is a low-pressure way to test-drive an area. You can see the drive time, the traffic, the parks and how the community spends its weekends.
- Frisco, Prosper and Celina pair free church patches with working farms a short drive up Preston Road. See our look at the Fields development in Frisco.
- Allen, Plano and McKinney offer daily patches, charity farms and historic downtowns. Read our Allen October 2026 market update.
- Denton and Sanger blend college-town energy with family farms. See the Denton October 2026 market update.
- Fort Worth's south and west sides, including Crowley and Aledo, are close to Mainstay, Lost Oak and Clark Gardens. Compare the Crowley and Aledo October updates.
- Rockwall, Rowlett and Forney deliver lake living with small-town fall charm. Check the Forney October 2026 market update.
